Fab Fives and CPRs

Senior Portraits

  • Greet parents and senior and let them know how great they look.

  • Tell them we will walk around the park and get some great shots in a variety of locations. Look at the senior and let them know to just be themselves and be relaxed. They do not have to look at the camera the whole time, they can look at their parent or away.

  • They also do not need to smile the whole time. We are looking for authentic expressions.

  • I always say to have something to do with their hands, whether in pockets, playing with hair, touching face, collarbone, tugging on lapel, holding dress, or crossed arms. I always encourage them to lean on something or bring a prop for something to do. There will be bathrooms along the way if they would like to change clothes.

  • We will do some standing, walking, looking over the shoulder, and some creative poses if they would like. We will do closeups, 3/4 body and full body pictures.

  • I ask what they would like to do with the pictures and if they have a deadline for the yearbook. We will get vertical and horizontal images. I encourage them to chat with me and/or their parents and just be natural. I will ask if they would like a parent to be in the picture with them, and most of the time they say yes. In certain cases, the senior might not want their parent to be with them, and that's ok too.

  • POST SESSION

    • OMG, we got some beautiful images today! You did such a great job with all of your posing and you did everything I asked you to do! Is there anything else you would like to do or a signature move you would like to show me? (Jumping up and down, throwing your cap, etc…)

    • In a couple of weeks, I will send you a slideshow set to music, where you can decide which package you would like to purchase (I know you will want to purchase them all!) I would like for you and your family to sit down and view the slideshow on a big tv or monitor so you can see the detail of these beautiful pictures. Once you purchase your package, your gallery will open up and you will be able to see all of the images to choose from. All of the packages have a print credit, so you can order anything you would like from your gallery. You also have the option to purchase the slideshow itself, which makes a nice keepsake and memory of your session.

  • I always send a thank you card in the mail with a Starbucks gift card saying how much fun I had with them and how beautiful their pictures are.

  • In about 30 days, I will send a testimonial request via email and make sure they keep in touch!

  • I let them know their gallery will be ready in about 2 weeks and to be on the lookout for my email.

School Portraits

  • Greet student and let them know how great they look.

  • Let them know to just be themselves and be relaxed.

  • I use a posing mat that has feet forward, to the left and to the right. This helps with the little kids, especially. “Stand on the red feet,” etc….

  • They also do not need to smile the whole time. We are looking for authentic expressions.

  • I always say to have something to do with their hands, whether in pockets, playing with hair, touching face, collarbone, tugging on lapel, holding dress, or crossed arms.

  • I usually start out with the straight on pose for the yearbook, and get more creative as we have time.
